Gustavo Melendrez-Hernandez, 29, a Hispanic/Latino male from Coachella, was shot late Monday morning, July 7, 2025, at a residence in the 84000 block of Avenue 51. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Thermal Station arrived around 10 a.m., rendered aid, and paramedics took him to a local hospital. He died three days later, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, and the Central Homicide Unit assumed the case.
