Just before 1 a.m. on June 6, 2025, 28-year-old Black male, Demonte Lumpkin, a man from Miami Gardens, was shot in the upper body while behind the wheel of a white Range Rover. Investigators traced the gunfire to the area near Northwest 208th Street and 14th Place; moments later, surveillance video captured the SUV barreling through the gate of the Mallorca Isles community and crashing beside a townhouse on the 1400 block of Northwest 210th Street. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted 28-year-old Demonte Lumpkin to a nearby trauma center, where 28-year-old Demonte Lumpkin died.
At the crash scene, neighbors woke to the sound of impact and the sight of the shattered gate and trees. Family members identified the driver as 28-year-old Demonte Lumpkin; his mother, Sheena Moorer, arrived in anguish, describing 28-year-old Demonte Lumpkin as the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back.
