On the evening of July 19, 2025, Vladimir Fedun, 57, male, was shot multiple times outside a home on the 6500 block of Thalia Way in Citrus Heights, California. Officers arrived just before 9:30 p.m. and moved him from the immediate area in an effort to render aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The killing was described as an isolated incident and, at that point in the year, the city's second homicide.
Investigators quickly identified a suspect: 55-year-old Victor Bubliyenko, a neighbor whom police said knew Vladimir Fedun. Detectives, assisted by allied agencies, searched multiple locations overnight and asked for tips from the public while stressing there was no broader threat. The following day, around 1 p.m., officers found the suspect near San Juan and Sunset avenues and took him into custody without incident.
Days later, the Sacramento County Coroner publicly identified the victim as Vladimir Fedun of Citrus Heights. Local coverage reiterated that the alleged shooter was his neighbor, who had already been arrested by Citrus Heights police. Authorities did not immediately disclose a detailed motive, only that the victim and suspect were acquainted.
