In a quiet South Fulton neighborhood, the sense of peace was shattered in late July 2025, leaving residents in shock. Kevin Bass, a 61-year-old Black male, was found deceased inside his Spring Valley Parkway home. The grim discovery was made by City of South Fulton police officers who were conducting a welfare check. The initial calm of the suburban street was replaced by a significant police presence, with as many as 14 patrol cars noted by one neighbor, signaling the gravity of the situation
unfolding within the Bass residence.
The investigation into the death of Kevin Bass quickly focused on a prime suspect, leading to an arrest that sent further shockwaves through the community. The individual taken into custody and charged with the murder of his father was his own son, Kristopher Bass. The charges against Kristopher were severe, including not only murder but also aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was subsequently booked into the Fulton County Jail.
Neighbors described the Bass family as people who generally kept to themselves, exchanging pleasantries with those they passed in the ordinarily peaceful and calm neighborhood. The motive for the fatal shooting has not been publicly released by law enforcement officials, who have stated that their investigation remains active and ongoing. The community, unaccustomed to such police activity, was left to grapple with the tragedy that had unfolded in their midst.
