The following day, people were approached in a local supermarket with photographs of Carol, their faces etched with worry as they asked if anyone had seen the missing woman.
The search came to a tragic end on Monday, February 3, 2003. A construction worker, driving to a job site, discovered Carol's body on the side of the road near Interstate 215 and Far Hills Avenue, miles from her home.
