On September 22, 2025, a Black/African American male, 35, known to friends and family as Nathaniel “Rooster” Jefferson, sat in a parked car on the 5500 block of West Lake Street in Chicago's Austin neighborhood when an assailant walked up and opened fire. The burst of gunshots shattered the afternoon calm.
Jefferson, 35, was struck multiple times; first responders rushed him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, and police ...
