In the early morning hours of June 17, 2018, the life of a 22-year-old woman, Sar Dajhii May, was tragically cut short in South Fulton, Georgia. A female, she was discovered shot to death inside a vehicle in the 1000 block of Buckhurst Drive. The grim finding was made at approximately 1:20 a.m. on that Sunday, which was also Father's Day.
Known affectionately as 'Smiley' by her loved ones, May was on the cusp of a bright future.
She was only six courses away from earning her bachelor's degree, a milestone she would never get to celebrate. Her death was a devastating blow to her family, including her mother, her father who had been in her life since she was a teenager, her biological father who remained active in her life, and her three sisters, the youngest of whom was just two months old at the time.
In the immediate aftermath of the discovery of May's body, the South Fulton Police Department launched an investigation into her death, which they classified as a murder. Investigators appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for this violent act. A reward of up to $2,000 was offered by Crime Stoppers Atlanta for any tips that could help solve the case.
Despite the initial investigation and the pleas from her grieving family for justice, there have been no publicly announced arrests or identification of any suspects in the years following Sar Dajhii May's death.
