In the late afternoon of September 2, 2025, Black female, Regina Darlene Smith, 56, was found shot in a Nissan Rogue outside the Family Dollar on Jeffersonville Road in east Macon. Deputies were called just after 4:40 p.m. and Bibb County Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced Regina Darlene Smith, 56, dead at the scene.
