In the early hours of Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the life of 31-year-old Franck Foute Mohdjiom was tragically cut short in Southeast, Washington, D.C.. At approximately 12:25 a.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Anacostia Road, Southeast. Upon arrival, they discovered Mohdjiom inside a location, unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C.
Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported him to a local hospital, but despite all lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the male's death led authorities to a suspect. On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Fugitive Unit arrested 35-year-old Richard Holmes of Southeast, D.C., in connection with the homicide. Holmes was taken into custody at the D.C. Jail, where he was being held on an unrelated matter. He has been charged with First Degree Murder While Armed – Felony Murder.
According to court documents, the motive for the fatal shooting was an attempted robbery. It is alleged that Holmes shot and killed Mohdjiom during the commission of this crime before fleeing the scene. Following his arrest, Holmes made his initial court appearance on September 24, 2025, where a judge found probable cause for the charge against him and ordered him held without bond pending a further hearing. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
