Jesus Guido Rosales, 20, a Hispanic/Latino male, was shot and killed on September 19, 2025, in Salinas, California. Just after 11 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 300 block of Cross Avenue near Miami Street and Bardin Road and found three people with gunshot wounds; Rosales and a teenage boy were pronounced dead at the scene, and a second teen survived. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office publicly identified Rosales by his full name, while local reports placed the shooting on Cross Avenue in East Salinas.

Detectives said the attack unfolded outside a home after words were exchanged, and they began working the case as a likely gang-motivated double homicide. On September 26, Salinas police arrested 18-year-old Marwuy Camacho as the suspected gunman. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail on two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and gang enhancements, and held without bail as investigators continued to piece together motive and sequence. Also killed in the shooting was 17-year-old Edgar Gomez; a third 17-year-old victim was wounded and is expected to recover.

Less than a week later, with help from Modesto police, officers arrested 18-year-old Angel Cabrera, identified as the alleged driver of the suspect vehicle. Cabrera was transported to Monterey County and booked on homicide, attempted homicide and gang-related charges. Both suspects’ bail was listed at $14,230,000, and police emphasized that additional participants may still be at large as the investigation continues.
