In a remote area about 12 miles north of White Hills, Arizona, a verbal dispute between two men who had lived on the same property for five years turned deadly. On the afternoon of Monday, May 19, 2025, 52-year-old Christopher Gene Jetton was shot and killed. The Mohave County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 2:59 PM and found Jetton inside a trailer with a gunshot wound to his chest.
The investigation revealed that Jetton and Richard Stephen
Hansen, 57, had been arguing about an unidentified person Jetton believed was trying to steal from them. The argument escalated, and Jetton allegedly punched Hansen. Following the physical altercation, Hansen went into his trailer, retrieved a handgun, and the argument continued until Hansen shot Jetton.
Upon their arrival, authorities, with assistance from the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the National Park Service, took Hansen into custody without incident. Medical personnel from a DPS helicopter attempted to provide emergency aid to Jetton, but he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Richard Stephen Hansen was arrested and booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility in Kingman on a charge of 2nd Degree Murder. The investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
