In the pre-dawn hours of July 14, 2025, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a residential neighborhood in west Phoenix. Angel Olguin, a 19-year-old male, was fatally shot in the incident, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. near 84th Avenue and Pioneer Street. Responding to reports of the shooting, Phoenix police officers arrived to find Olguin suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Olguin's death began swiftly, with patrol officers securing the area and gathering evidence. Their initial work quickly led them to a potential suspect, a teenager who was located and detained shortly after the shooting. Homicide detectives were called in to take over the investigation, and after interviewing the teenage suspect, they booked him into the Maricopa County Juvenile Correctional Center.
