In a Chandler, Arizona apartment, the life of 23-year-old Jadyn Rose Acker was cut short on the evening of July 25, 2025. What began as a domestic disturbance escalated into a fatal shooting, leaving a child without a mother and a family grieving a profound loss. Jadyn, a female, was in a romantic relationship with Jaren Jeandre Varnrobinson, and the two had a child together.
It was in their shared apartment that the tragic events unfolded.
Neighbors reported hearing a heated argument followed by a sound that resembled a gunshot, prompting a call to the Chandler Police Department. When officers arrived at the apartment complex near Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard, they discovered the apartment door ajar. Inside, they found Jadyn unresponsive. She was quickly moved outside, but her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting was a tense standoff. A second woman in the apartment, who identified herself as Varnrobinson's mother, informed the police that she had witnessed her son shoot Jadyn. She also told them that the 25-year-old was now barricaded in a bathroom and was armed. The Chandler SWAT team was dispatched to the scene. Using less-lethal tools and a police K9, they were able to safely take Jaren Jeandre Varnrobinson into custody. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation due to low blood pressure.
Investigators recovered a handgun and a spent casing from the apartment. Varnrobinson was later charged with second-degree murder in connection with Jadyn's death. The case is being investigated as a domestic-related homicide, a grim reminder of the potential for violence within intimate relationships.
