In a tragic turn of events on a Tuesday in Jasper, Alabama, 72-year-old Ronald Martin Minor lost his life in a violent encounter. The incident, which unfolded at a residence on Devon Drive, also left his 70-year-old wife, Carol Minor, with serious injuries. Authorities were called to the scene and discovered that Ronald Minor had been fatally shot and was pronounced dead at the home.
The investigation quickly identified a suspect, Nathaniel Barry Anderson, who was 42 years old at the
time. Anderson is the stepson of Ronald Minor and the son of Carol Minor. It was reported that Anderson resided in the home with his mother. While the Minors were still married, they had been living separately. In the aftermath of the shooting, Carol Minor, despite being shot in the head, managed to escape the residence and call for emergency services. She was subsequently hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
Following the shooting, Anderson was seen fleeing the property and heading towards a wooded area, which prompted a significant law enforcement response. Several schools in the vicinity were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure while the search for the armed and dangerous suspect was underway. Ultimately, law enforcement located and arrested Anderson inside the home. He was taken into custody and is being held at the Walker County Jail, facing a murder charge for the death of his stepfather. The motive for the deadly altercation has not yet been determined by police as their investigation continues.
