Jacob Zimmer, a 61-year-old white male, was the manager of the Hotel Belleclaire, a transient hotel located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. On February 3, 1983, Zimmer was fatally shot in the hotel lobby during a violent rampage carried out by Alban Leacock, a 41-year-old handyman employed at the hotel.
