In the early hours of April 1, 1990, the quiet of downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut, was broken by the flicker of fire. Law enforcement and fire crews responded to what appeared to be an arson, a sports car engulfed in flames on a city street. As the fire was extinguished, a grim discovery was made in the passenger seat: the charred remains of a woman.
