On October 30, 1974, Gloria Denise Steele, a 19-year-old Black female from Kalamazoo, Michigan, was found murdered in her apartment at the Stadium Drive Apartments. Steele was a student at Western Michigan University and lived with her boyfriend, Sam Waller, and their young child. That morning, she had attended class and an interview at the Upjohn Company.
