Gloria Denise Steele, a 19-year-old Black female, was a student at Western Michigan University, balancing her studies with the responsibilities of motherhood to her young child. On October 30, 1974, after attending a class and a job interview, she returned to her apartment at the Stadium Drive Apartments, a place that would tragically become the scene of her untimely death.
