In the winter of 2014, the life of 28-year-old Teaira Batey came to a tragic end in Gary, Indiana. Her disappearance in mid-January of that year caused her family deep concern, especially when she failed to attend a birthday party she had helped plan for her two-year-old son. Batey, a mother of three, was described by her family as a kind-hearted and trusting individual who was also developmentally disabled, which they believed made her vulnerable.
