Death by Force

John Michael Large, a 19-year-old white male from Tennessee, was murdered in August 1979 by his roommate and childhood friend, Nicholas Todd Sutton. Sutton, who was later convicted of multiple murders, confessed to killing Large during a series of admissions to authorities in 1980. The murder occurred at a remote farm in Waynesville, North Carolina, where Sutton lured Large under the pretense of resolving a dispute over a failed drug deal involving $25,000 intended for a cocaine purchase.
