Kimberly Logan, a 30-year-old woman from Rochester, New York, died on November 15, 1989, after she was found in a yard beneath a pile of leaves. She was described in accounts of the case as a Black prostitute from the Lyell Avenue area. The scene was brutal and strange: she had been battered and kicked, and the medical examiner noted leaves stuffed down her throat, as if someone had tried to silence her with the very cover used to hide her.
