Genise Wilder, a 22-year-old African American woman originally from Roosevelt, New York, was found dead in late June 1989. Her body was discovered on June 27 in a factory area on Kellum Place in Hempstead, New York. She had suffered multiple stab wounds, indicating a violent and personal attack. Genise Wilder was one of several young women murdered in Nassau County during the 1980s, a series of killings that later became known as the Nassau County serial murders.
