Mark Peters—a 71-year-old white male—was reported missing in late October 1993 after disappearing from his home in Hamilton, Ohio. Mr. Peters, a retired electrician and military veteran, had taken in a younger man, Glen Edward Rogers, as a roommate. Peters was described as generous and trusting, offering shelter to Rogers during a difficult period in the younger man’s life.
