Shawnda Leea Summers, a 17-year-old Black female, was last seen in Seattle, Washington, near Yesler Way on October 9, 1982. For nearly a year, her whereabouts remained unknown, a period of agonizing uncertainty for her loved ones. The grim discovery of her remains came on August 11, 1983, at the base of an apple tree in a vacant lot near South 146th Street and 22nd Avenue South, just north of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
