On January 11, 1959, the Jackson family, including Carroll V. Jackson Jr., his wife Mildred, and their two daughters Susan Anne and Janet Carroll Jackson, were returning home when their 1958 Chevrolet was run off the road on State Route 609, approximately eight miles from their home. Witnesses reported the incident, but the family disappeared shortly afterward.
