On a cold January day in 1959, the lives of the Jackson family were irrevocably shattered in an act of brutal, random violence. Mildred Anne Hill Jackson, a 27-year-old Caucasian woman, her husband Carroll, and their two young daughters, Susan and Janet, were returning from a family visit when their car was forced off a rural road near Fredericksburg, Virginia. This was the beginning of a nightmare that would end in the tragic deaths of the entire family and grip the region with fear.
