On May 6, 1991, 44-year-old African American woman Shirley Douglas and her 79-year-old aunt, Hattie Wilson, were discovered strangled to death in Wilson's apartment in Fort Worth, Texas. At the time, the case remained unsolved, with no immediate suspects identified. Douglas and Wilson were both African American women, and their violent deaths left their family and community in shock and mourning.
