Betty Everett, a 67-year-old African American woman, was found murdered in her Columbus, Mississippi, home on November 17, 1998. Employed as a beautician at the Trinity Retirement Center, Everett was known for her dedication to her work and her community. Her death was part of a series of five unsolved homicides in Columbus between 1996 and 1998, all involving elderly victims who were killed in their homes.
