Johnathan Boyd, a 35-year-old man from Houston, Texas, was fatally shot on February 16, 2025, at a gas station located at 3755 North MacGregor Way. The incident occurred just before 6 p.m., when Boyd got into an argument with an unknown suspect. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, ultimately resulting in Boyd being shot. Houston Police Department officers responded to the scene and found Boyd lying unresponsive next to the gas pumps.
Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 21-year-old Micheal Sean Pace. Initially described as an unknown male, Pace fled the scene in a white Nissan Altima with black rims. Law enforcement officials worked to track him down, and on February 25, charges were officially filed against him for murder. Two days later, on February 27, Pace was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Service in Blue Springs, Missouri. He was booked into the Jackson County Sheriff's Office Detention Center and is awaiting extradition back to Harris County, Texas.
The case is being handled by the 495th State District Court, and Pace is expected to face trial for the murder of Boyd. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with assistance from local and federal agencies.
