David Alvarado, a 43-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, was fatally shot in the early hours of March 16, 2025, at Café Olé, a restaurant located along the San Antonio River Walk. Authorities responded to a shooting call around 1 a.m. and discovered Alvarado with a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed his identity and ruled his death as a homicide.
A preliminary investigation revealed that both Alvarado and the suspect were employees of Café Olé. For reasons still under investigation, the suspect allegedly approached Alvarado and shot him at close range before fleeing the scene. Initially, authorities launched an extensive search for the suspect, but he remained at large for a short period. However, police later arrested 20-year-old Talano Garcia at a different location after a family member tipped off authorities about his involvement. Garcia was taken into custody without incident and is facing a charge of first-degree murder.
The San Antonio Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting.
