Isaac Pelegrino, a 42-year-old Hispanic/Latino man, was killed in an early-morning shooting on March 21, 2025, on Milwaukee’s south side. The gunfire erupted at approximately 3:15 a.m. in the 2100 block of South 7th Street, near South 7th and West Becher streets and close to Kosciuszko Park. When authorities responded, Pelegrino had suffered fatal gunshot injuries and died at the scene. A second man, 47, was also struck by gunfire during the same incident.
He survived and was transported to a hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.
In the hours after the shooting, investigators had little public information about what had led to the violence. Milwaukee police did not announce a motive, describe an argument or confrontation preceding the shooting, or publicly explain whether Pelegrino and the surviving victim had been together when the gunfire began. Police characterized the shooter as an unknown suspect and began searching for whoever was responsible. An April 2025 report identifying Pelegrino as one of Milwaukee’s Hispanic homicide victims stated that no charges had been filed in his killing. Searches of later publicly available reporting did not reveal the identification of a suspect, an arrest connected to Pelegrino’s death, or criminal charges stemming from the March 21 shooting. As a result, there is no publicly reported trial or conviction in connection with his homicide. Authorities continued asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Milwaukee police or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers, leaving the circumstances behind the attack and the identity of the person responsible unanswered in the available public record.
