On February 10, 2025, a devastating tragedy unfolded in Byron, Wyoming, claiming the life of Jordan Basil Harshman, a 2-year-old white female. Jordan was born on January 2, 2023, to Clifford and Tranyelle Harshman in Powell, Wyoming. Described by loved ones as a joyful and affectionate child, Jordan was known for her bright smile and love of baby dolls.
Her life was cut short in a horrific shooting incident that occurred at the family's residence on East Shoshone Avenue.
According to law enforcement reports, the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call placed by 32-year-old Tranyelle Harshman, Jordan's mother, who reported a shooting at her home and indicated she intended to harm herself. Upon arrival, authorities discovered four female children with gunshot wounds to the head. Jordan Basil Harshman and her 2-year-old sister Brooke were pronounced dead at the scene, along with their 9-year-old stepsister Brailey. A fourth child, 7-year-old Olivia Blackmer, was found alive but critically injured and later died from her wounds on February 15, 2025.
Tranyelle Harshman was located in an upstairs bedroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. She was initially found alive but succumbed to her injuries the following day. No arrests were made, as Tranyelle was identified as the sole suspect in the shooting. Her husband, Cliff Harshman, later released a public statement expressing his anguish and describing Tranyelle as someone who had been battling severe mental health issues, including PTSD and postpartum depression. He emphasized that she was not a monster, but rather a person in deep psychological distress.
The community of Byron and surrounding areas were left reeling from the loss of four young girls, including Jordan Basil Harshman, a 2-year-old white female whose life had barely begun.
