Brooke Seline Harshman, a 2-year-old White female from Byron, Wyoming, died on February 10, 2025. The 2-year-old female was born on February 22, 2022, to Clifford and Tranyelle Harshman.
That afternoon, a 32-year-old mother called 911 around 1:30 p.m. and told a dispatcher her four daughters had been shot, describing where the children would be found in the house before the call disconnected.
Deputies and other responders reached the Byron home and found the children and their mother with gunshot wounds to the head. Two girls—ages 2 and 9—were already dead; a second 2-year-old died shortly after authorities arrived. The 32-year-old mother and a 7-year-old daughter were initially transported for medical care.
Among those killed were 2-year-old Brooke Seline Harshman and her twin sister, 2-year-old Jordan, as well as 9-year-old female Brailey. The 7-year-old female, Olivia, was flown to Utah and fought for days before dying later that week, while the 32-year-old mother died in the hospital the day after the shootings.
Investigators identified the 32-year-old mother as the sole suspect and concluded the case was a murder-suicide. There were no arrests. In an initial statement, authorities noted the woman had called 911 and said she had shot her daughters and planned to kill herself; the sheriff later described the scene as a “nightmare,” and the inquiry continued as officials documented the sequence inside the home.
In the days that followed, the community gathered to mourn.
On what would have been her third birthday, the 2-year-old female Brooke was eulogized alongside her sisters and mother in a celebration of life at a Powell church, funeral notices remembered the 2-year-old female's short life and the family surrounding her while she with her sisters and mother were laid to rest.
