Do you know who murdered Fou Sent Saechao?
On the evening of May 22, 1992, Fou Saechao, a 43-year-old Asian man, was diligently stocking shelves at a market located at 5020 N. Interstate Ave. in Portland, Oregon. At approximately 8:20 p.m., his work was interrupted when he was confronted by an African American male. Following a brief exchange of words, the unidentified man tragically shot Saechao multiple times before fleeing the scene. Saechao succumbed to his gunshot wounds.
The investigation into Saechao's murder revealed a potential link to a wider crime spree that unfolded over the Memorial Day weekend. Three days later, in the early hours of May 25, 31-year-old Anthony Lesina was found shot to death near a phone booth at 1925 N. Interstate Ave. A witness reported seeing a Black male leaving the scene in Lesina's maroon car. Later that same day, at around 8:45 p.m., Kevin Waldner was shot in his home at 4805 N. Borthwick after confronting an intruder. Waldner survived the attack and described his assailant as an African American man.
Based on evidence recovered from all three crime scenes, detectives believe that a single suspect is responsible for the murder of Fou Saechao, the murder of Anthony Lesina, and the attempted murder of Kevin Waldner. The suspect is described as an African American male in his late teens to early twenties, standing between 5'6" and 5'9" tall, and weighing 140 to 160 pounds. At the time of the incidents, he was reportedly wearing a long black athletic jacket and a black baseball cap with white letters. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with these cases, and the suspect remains unidentified.
