after a resident called 911 to report that a man had been inside their house and had subsequently fled the scene.
As law enforcement searched the vicinity for the reported intruder, they came upon a vehicle containing a deceased individual. The person inside, who matched the description provided by the homeowner, was soon identified as Charles Gardiner. The cause of his death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators later clarified that the incident was not a burglary as initially believed. Instead, it emerged that the homeowner had discovered Gardiner inside the residence, leading to a physical confrontation before Gardiner fled.
