Two young men are found dead inside of their home In the winter of 2011, a grim discovery was made inside a home in Vancouver, Washington, marking the start of a perplexing and unsolved double homicide case. On the afternoon of February 1st, Christopher M. Haske, a 27-year-old male, was found deceased alongside 32-year-old Kenneth W. Koltz. The two men were discovered in the residence they shared in the Image neighborhood after a relative of one of the victims arrived at the home and found the tragic scene.
Emergency services were
dispatched to the house, located on a quiet cul-de-sac, at approximately 3:10 p.m. Investigators from the Vancouver Police Department's Major Crimes Unit quickly determined that both Haske and Koltz were victims of homicide. While initial reports suggested the deaths were the result of a shooting, authorities did not officially confirm the cause of death in the early stages of the investigation. Detectives were present during the autopsies performed by the Clark County Medical Examiner's office as they worked to piece together the events that led to the men's deaths.
In the days following the discovery, police identified Haske and Koltz but had not yet determined a motive for the killings or identified any suspects. The case of Christopher Haske's death, along with that of Kenneth Koltz, remains an active and unsolved investigation. The Vancouver Police Department continues to list this double homicide as a cold case and encourages anyone with information to come forward. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly named in connection with the deaths of the two men.
