On December 28, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a violent altercation erupted outside the Frozen Daiquiri Bar & Restaurant on Bolivar Road near East 9th Street in downtown Cleveland. During the fight, 24-year-old Simajah Harris was shot multiple times. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Deshon Baker Jr., allegedly retrieved a firearm from his vehicle before returning to the scene and opening fire on Harris.
Following the shooting, Baker fled the area in his vehicle.
When officers from the Cleveland Division of Police arrived, they were unable to locate the victim. Harris had been transported to MetroHealth Medical Center by a friend, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities quickly identified Baker as the primary suspect in the case, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for aggravated murder.
On February 13, 2025, Baker was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at a residence in Euclid, Ohio. Subsequently, on February 24, 2025, a Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted Baker on multiple charges, including two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and one count of having weapons while under disability. His arraignment is scheduled to take place at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center.
The tragic incident has left the community in shock, with local officials condemning the senseless act of violence. The Frozen Daiquiri Bar & Restaurant, where the altercation occurred, announced its closure just weeks after the shooting. The case continues to unfold as authorities prepare for Baker’s upcoming court proceedings.
