In the winter of 2025, the community of Lake City, South Carolina, was shaken by the tragic death of 18-year-old Selena McKnight. An African American female, Selena was found deceased on February 6, 2025, her life cut short by gun violence. Born in nearby Florence, she was a resident of Kingstree but was discovered in Lake City under circumstances that prompted a homicide investigation.
