On January 11, 2025, Greensboro police responded to a single-vehicle crash near North Elm Street and Sommerton Drive at approximately 6:09 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver, identified as 50-year-old El Tahir Abdo Yahia Haroun, had suffered injuries consistent with a shooting. Haroun, a male resident of Greensboro, North Carolina, was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
