On a cold December evening in Philadelphia, a brutal act of violence claimed the life of 28-year-old Tahira Wynn. The Black female was discovered on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in the driver's seat of a white Cadillac SUV parked on the 700 block of Union Street in the city's Mantua neighborhood. Alongside her was 53-year-old Kemo Vaughn, who was also deceased. Both had been shot multiple times.
The discovery was made at approximately 10:03 p.m.
when Philadelphia Police officers responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they found both Wynn and Vaughn unresponsive inside the vehicle. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and officially pronounced both victims dead shortly after 10:10 p.m. Wynn, a resident of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, was tragically pronounced dead just one minute after Vaughn.
Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence. Surveillance footage from the area revealed two male suspects approaching the parked SUV on foot. The gunmen flanked the vehicle and opened fire at close range, unleashing a barrage of nearly 20 shots into the Cadillac. A significant number of the bullets pierced the front passenger-side window, striking Wynn and Vaughn multiple times. After the shooting, the two assailants were seen fleeing the scene, disappearing into a vacant lot.
As of now, the case remains an unsolved homicide. The Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating the double murder and has urged the public for assistance. A substantial reward has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for the deaths of Tahira Wynn and Kemo Vaughn. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with this devastating incident.
