Quincy Ross was a 30-year-old Black man from Arkansas, a father of seven and a fiancé. A cousin described him as a quiet family man who "wasn’t the type to mess with nobody" and simply "handled his business." His fiancée, Danielle Austin, later had to face the task of telling their children that their father was not coming home.
In the early morning hours of April 12, 2025, a domestic dispute erupted between Quincy and his older brother, 34-year-old Broderick Ross, at a residence in
the Northaven neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee. Quincy called his fiancée and asked her to pick him up from the home on the 700 block of Archie Drive because of the argument. But before she could get there, the situation escalated. While Austin was just five minutes away, she received a call that Quincy had been shot.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Broderick Ross shot his younger brother outside the residence around 12:15 a.m. Investigators alleged that after the shooting, Broderick placed Quincy’s body into a vehicle and fled the scene, driving across state lines into Arkansas.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office launched a homicide investigation. A few hours later, at approximately 3 a.m., deputies from the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas apprehended Broderick Ross in the town of Edmondson. Shortly after the arrest, investigators discovered Quincy Ross's body not far from where his brother was taken into custody.
Broderick Ross was arrested and charged by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office with second-degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, carjacking, tampering with evidence, and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. He also faced additional charges in Crittenden County, Arkansas. As of his arrest in April 2025, Broderick was being held at the Crittenden County Jail, awaiting extradition to Shelby County to face the charges related to his brother's death.
