Ronald Hunt, a 45-year-old man, was fatally shot on the evening of February 18, 2025, in Lumberton, North Carolina. Officers responded to a call at approximately 6 p.m. and discovered Hunt suffering from a gunshot wound at a residence on Anne Street. Emergency medical services transported him to UNC Health Southeastern, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities identified Cameron O’Bryan Locklear, a 33-year-old man from Maxton, as the primary suspect in Hunt’s killing.
Locklear was arrested in Florence, South Carolina, after arriving at McLeod Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Florence police detained him until he was discharged from the hospital, after which he was extradited to Robeson County. Locklear now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault by pointing a gun, communicating threats, and injury to personal property.
