On the evening of May 3, 2025, a male named Brandon Miller was fatally shot at an apartment complex on Ridge Drive in southeast Memphis, Tennessee. The incident occurred late Saturday evening, and Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hours after the shooting, 44-year-old Raffael Newman turned himself in to the Shelby County jail. Newman reportedly admitted to his involvement in the shooting, which he claimed followed an argument during which he felt "degraded." He surrendered a firearm that was later discovered to have been reported stolen. At the scene of the shooting, authorities recovered five shell casings.
Raffael Newman has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Brandon Miller's death. He was being held on a $350,000 bond and was scheduled for a court appearance on the Monday following the incident. Newman is currently the only suspect charged in the case.
