On February 26, 2016, the life of 25-year-old Kedrick Danner was tragically cut short in his own home at the Hillcrest Apartments in the Whitehaven neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee. An African American man and a father to three young children, Danner was the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred during the course of a robbery. His children, aged seven, six, and four, were all present in the apartment at the time of the incident, though they did not witness the violent act that took their
father's life.
The Memphis Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide, which led them to identify a suspect in the case. Less than a month after the deadly shooting, on March 17, 2016, authorities arrested a man named Kevin Harris in connection with the murder of Kedrick Danner. The investigation suggested that Harris was responsible for shooting Danner during the commission of a robbery at the apartment complex.
Following his arrest, Kevin Harris was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault for his alleged role in the death of Kedrick Danner.
