On the afternoon of March 7, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred at the Peachtree Apartments in Ahoskie, North Carolina. The victim, Darvarious Romon Wilson, a 33-year-old African American male, was found deceased at the scene by responding officers from the Ahoskie Police Department. The incident took place around 1:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Peachtree Street.
Following an investigation, authorities identified 31-year-old Fredrick Scot Williams, also of Ahoskie, as the suspect in the shooting. Williams was arrested later that evening in Raleigh, North Carolina. He faces charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Williams is currently being held without bond at the Wake County Detention Center.
The Ahoskie Police Department expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Hertford County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the Raleigh Police Department during the investigation. Deputy Chief Stephen White commended the collaborative efforts of all agencies involved in bringing the suspect into custody.
Funeral services for Darvarious Romon Wilson were held on March 16, 2025, at Kingdom Building and Deliverance For All People in Ahoskie. He was laid to rest at Wilder-Cherry Family Cemetery in Aulander, North Carolina. The community mourned the loss of Wilson, remembering him as a valued member of Ahoskie.
