Jovontai Highsmith, a 32-year-old Black male, was found fatally shot inside a vehicle in North Toledo on April 7, 2025. Officers responded to a report of a person shot at approximately 11:42 p.m. in the 900 block of Peck Street, where they discovered Highsmith suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
An autopsy was conducted at the Lucas County Coroner’s Office on April 8, 2025, confirming that Highsmith
