Jovontai Highsmith, a 32-year-old Black male, was found fatally shot inside a vehicle in North Toledo on April 7, 2025. Officers responded to a report of a person shot at approximately 11:42 p.m. in the 900 block of Peck Street, where they discovered Highsmith suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
