In a tragic turn of events on a Tuesday evening in south Oklahoma City, a dispute in a parking lot escalated into a gunfight that left two teenagers dead and another facing a murder charge. The incident, which unfolded on February 11, 2025, claimed the life of 18-year-old Oscar Herrera, a Hispanic male.
That night, a group of individuals met in a parking lot at 5212 S. Villa Ave. An argument broke out among them and quickly spiraled into a gun battle.
In the aftermath, three young men were rushed to Southwest Medical Center in two separate vehicles with gunshot wounds.
Oscar Herrera succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. A second teenager, 17-year-old Raymundo Fernandez, also died from his wounds later. The third individual, a 17-year-old male, survived his injuries.
Following an initial investigation, police arrested 17-year-old Joel Delgado. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of second-degree murder. The case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office to determine what, if any, formal charges will be filed.
