Keilub Paul, a 3-year-old male from Youngstown, Ohio, tragically lost his life on April 14, 2025, after suffering a gunshot wound inside a home on Pointview Avenue. The incident occurred around 5 p.m., and Keilub was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Youngstown Police Department Lieutenant Mohammad Awad stated that charges are pending in the case, with law enforcement planning to meet with prosecutors once the autopsy report is finalized. While officials have not disclosed specific charges, they have expressed frustration over inconsistencies in witness statements. Keilub’s mother, Amber Gabrelcik, has publicly denied allegations of non-cooperation, asserting that she followed emergency instructions to apply pressure to her son's wound and that her sister performed CPR. Gabrelcik also revealed that she had spoken with detectives and undergone testing for gunpowder residue on the day of the incident.
According to Gabrelcik, Keilub had been excited to play outside and had left her bedroom to retrieve his shoes moments before the shooting occurred. Within less than a minute, he was found bleeding from a gunshot wound to his side. The family has described Keilub as a loving child who was protective of his younger sibling. His father has voiced frustration over the investigation, particularly regarding the authorities’ claims of non-cooperation.
