On the night of December 28, 2024, the Marlborough East neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri, became the scene of a fatal violent incident involving 18-year-old Zamauria Jones, an African American female. Gunfire erupted shortly after 10:00 p.m. at the East Hills Village Apartments, located in the 7600 block of Monroe Avenue. Local law enforcement officers were initially dispatched to the residential complex following reports of shots fired in the area, but their response took an urgent turn
before they could arrive at the specific address.
While police units were en route to the apartment complex, they were flagged down by a frantic driver in a vehicle near the scene. The driver informed the officers that she was transporting a shooting victim to the hospital and desperately required assistance.
