On May 8, 2025, Prophet A. Thomas-Applin, a 19-year-old Black male, was found deceased from a gunshot wound in front of a residence on the 4800 block of Manitoba Road in northeast Columbus, Ohio. Columbus police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male at approximately 5:17 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, who had been shot prior to midnight on May 7. Columbus Fire medics pronounced him dead at the scene at 5:26 a.m.
The Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case. Detectives have not yet determined a motive for the shooting and are seeking assistance from the public. They are requesting any video footage from the area between 11:00 p.m. and midnight on May 7, 2025. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the homicide of Prophet A. Thomas-Applin. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue to seek leads that may shed light on the circumstances surrounding his death.
