In a tragic turn of events on a Saturday night in Queens, New York, a young man's life was cut short in what police have described as a murder-suicide stemming from a love triangle. Neo Secaira, a 17-year-old male from College Point, was fatally shot on the evening of April 12, 2025. The incident unfolded around 10:08 p.m. near the corner of Oceania Street and 48th Avenue in the Bayside neighborhood.
Secaira was walking with a 19-year-old woman when they were confronted.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Frank Liu of Flushing, approached the pair and opened fire, striking Secaira in the chest. In the immediate aftermath, as the 19-year-old woman looked on, Liu then turned the firearm on himself, sustaining a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Officers from the 111th Precinct arrived at the scene to find both Secaira and Liu unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency medical services transported both individuals to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Investigators quickly determined that the motive for the violent encounter was a dispute over a relationship with the 19-year-old woman who was present at the scene.
